Contrast, Harmony and Balance

I chose this photo because it has a lot of contrast and it feels harmonious to me. The Balance is asymmetrical as both sides are not identical and I believe the tree grabs attention first. It also has a slight touch of radial balance as the dark shadow and shaded tree partly encircle the canyon scene. There are four main textures, which are: the rugged cliffs, the pine tree, distant vegetation, and the sky. There is complementary color from the orange rock and blue sky. I think most viewers would recognize that I took this photo of the Grand Canyon which is culturally significant as one of the seven wonders of the natural world and it is a national park that many people enjoy viewing.

Visceral Response:

Although the Nissan 360z is not the latest news, I always find myself turning my head to check it out whenever I see one.  I chose this photograph because I believe it shows the car off well. Other colors look nice but black reflects light brilliantly, which helps the eye see all the wonderful lines and form. The neutral color in the back and foreground as well as the rough contrasting textures of brick and gravel really cause this sleek shiny black sports car to pop.

 The brick building behind has a nice nostalgic feel that is very complementary with this automobile. The form or aerodynamic design of this car cause it to look like it can go very fast, easily cutting through the wind. Speed causes a sense of excitement for me.

I feel that I probably like beautiful sports cars because they look like they are on their way to doing something fun!
